Bio:
Hi, I am Osman Batur İnce. I got my BSc in Computer Science degree from Bilkent University in 2022 and my MSc in Computer Sciences & Engineering degree from Koç University in 2024.
My journey in NLP began when we used BERT for emoji prediction in tweets in a class. Previously, I had explored web design and software development and even dabbled with a fintech startup. However, I found understanding language through statistical models extremely interesting. After our startup disbanded, I applied to a professor to work on sentiment analysis of tweet streams in my last year. Then, I continued my research at the KUIS AI Center, under the guidance of Professor Aykut Erdem.
During my MSc studies, I mainly focused on leveraging language models’ dynamics to improve their compositional generalization capabilities. I worked on multimodal compositional generalization, medical vision-language models, and medical language modeling as well.
PhD research:
Overall, my research focus is developing efficient multimodal models that can systematically generalize across all sorts of settings. Currently, I am interested in incorporating modular and dynamic subcomponents into existing pre-trained multimodal models to improve their efficiency and generalization.
I am open to collaborations, please let me know if our research interests align!
