Partner Summits

Annually, the CDT welcomes external partners (from the private sector, public sector, government, and the third sector) for an interactive gathering with our students and academic supervisor community. Students share their in-progress PhD research, and all attendees join in moderated roundtables to spark cross-learning and exchange— discussion topics are typically rooted in real-world challenges and questions that Partners are grappling with in their organisations.

Bringing together a diverse array of perspectives and expertise, we are pleased to have seen conversations, concepts, and relationships cultivated during the Summit progress in a variety of ways, such as seeding CDT coursework projects, larger collaborations between Partners and academics, studentships (i.e., industry-funded PhD spots in the CDT), internships, and recruitment of graduating students into external roles.

Our Partner Summits have been organised in collaboration with the preceding CDT in NLP (funded in 2019). Thus, from inception, the Summits have showcased PhD students at all stages of their studies—from those completing their first year to those completing their final year.

Here are blog posts about each prior Summit, with a Partner-focused reflection video from the most recent year’s Summit further below:

We’re now planning towards the 2027 Summit, to build on the feedback and experiences of these first two events. We welcome enquiries from organisations who would like to attend or explore broader partnership avenues, which can be submitted via this form.
